Hello I'm new on here and was wondering if anyone can advise me of the correct procedure for removing the nut which holds on the drum. The car is a 1.0 Micra 1999. In particular whether the threads are normal or opposite for the passenger side as is the case on some Fords I have worked on. The nuts themselves have a small collar around the end which has been bent into a groove in the shaft. Is there a method for straightening this out or is brute force the answer? I did not want to force anything at this stage and would appreciate any guidence given.

Many thanks,
Mouser.

Hello,

Presumably you either mean 1989... or your post is in the wrong section ;) because 1999 would be for a K11...

errr as for the brakes, sorry im useless and I dont know...

welcome to the forums! :grinning:

Hi mate....Yeah the only way to get the Nut off is just Get a socket and a long bar and undo it....it wont harm the thred because this is how all garages do it ;)

P.s im a Mechanic 'Trust me' :p

Yes that would be the wrong section.

Thanks anyway.

No probs mate any time...By the way after you have taken the nut off....if it looks really bad...Like split and metal missing i would replace it...if not then its Fine just Screw it back on (when your done) and bash it back in with what i use normally is a Extension bar end...try not to use anything sharp as it can split the nut :D

lol the nut is on norm i use air gun on them saves alot of work but bloodly hell get a big long bar n imo i dont think u would damage the thread on the nut more likely break a small bar or something tho lol

Thanks guys.
I did bend a few bars before deciding enough is enough!
