world cup

I'm just waiting for the in-depth discussions about how "penalty shootouts are such an awful way to end a football match", etc. We're usually due one in this country about once every 4 years or so.....

Shame for those who are really into their football. I was watching the F1 instead tho :)

was like WTF throughout the game until Lennon came on and we had a few chances... i was quite surprised at how well Hargreaves performed...

Rooney has got anger issues that he needs to sort out...

Lampard disappointed me through the whole tornament...

im happy to get as far as we did from the standard played really... but...

what can you do i hate Penalty's and i dont envy anyone taking one...

i think GER vs BRA in final with Germany taking it...
 
I agree Germany to win...but Im sayin that because I spent a couple of weeks in Berlin a few yrs ago and loved it....student thing/#### up. :grinning: I just dont want Brazil or france to get the cup. Anyhoo..
 
Lampard shouldn't have played in this game at all imo, Lennon should have played from the beginning, yes, Rooney has got anger issues but I think the red card was uneccesary he was just being a young lad under lots of pressure frustrated with himself, a yellow card would have sufficed and I think that Ronaldo should stay out of his way when he's back at united after the tournament, the look on Rooneys face when he pushed Ronaldo said it all, there's no love lost there. Did you notice how quiet it was outside after the match, it seems that most of the country are shell shocked.
 
I also noticed that England played a lot better after Rooney was sent off . No doubt because they knew they might be screwed without him.

off to pub again later, i have to cope with a very drunken,depressed other half when im sober :glare:
 
I just wish when we get knocked out of big tournaments it wouldn't be to penalties. I'd rather we got beat by a better team, which to be honest we didn't today.

So many IF's as usual, but I think 10 men England were superb after Rooney going off.

My opinions

Lennon should have scored and played well when he came on
We should of got a penatly.
Rooney should have got a yellow, didn't stamp with intent.
Ronaldo - can't be doing with him.........cheat.
hate penalties
Hargreaves for me now has become a real top performer, great last few games and could be a great England player.
thank god Mr Burns is now gone, should have bought more strikers and at least used Wallcot and played Carrick more.

I could go on, but I can't be bothered for now lol!

F1 is on and missde it thank god its only qualifying ill only have to stab 2 people tonight to quench my anger ....
 
i was in tears i cnt believe we lost im still so ###in distraught. england deserved to win.

and i told all my mates n family that france will win. Final is going to be france VS germany and the germans will win. MARK MY WORDS!!!
 
The German authorities will be breathing a little easier now though, can you imagine the trouble if it had been an England-Germany final.

after watching the game i aint really a footy expert but i think england deserved the win... the portugese keeper did really well to save all those penalties tho...

im not gna cry over it, too busy crying coz my cars fubard :( lol

Sounding a bit too much like your supporting England there.

I could come in here and blatently lie, say unlucky etc, however i was 100% supporting Portugal and danced round the room when i watched you lot go out.

Still, theres always another 4 years time when Rooney can get sent off again and we don't make it :D

but i dont see why people in here who are moaning bout football/england/fans are posting in a thread about the world cup when they clearly are not intrested.

i work with english football fans..because i dont suport a team country or club they take the pee...ill get em

edit: i like football watch wenever i can and played it all my life..just not a true fan for anyone :)
 
I dont follow a particular team, but if I had to it would be Newcastle, but the world cup is something special imo, it brings people together, giving people something in common.

yeah they all shout "you SWEAR EVADING IS NOT TOLERATED!!" at the t.v and get drunk fight get arrested or be sick on the way home....haha

was in the pub watching the game today and a lad and lass wouldnt stop kissin n coudlin all the way thru the game..every noticed them..anayway the guy sat next to me taps him on the shoulder and says "do you realise how important this game is?..go home throw that shirt in the bin and get your juices flowing at home mate!"...well i cracked up.made my day
 
one person i used to work with is portugese... hate the #####... wudda been nice to get one over her really but then again i dont need england to win to do that :D

people who proper get off with each other in public get on my tits tho, its like "woooo look at me! i gotta gf ( or bf) yay get me" when what everyones thinking is: go home ffs your gf (bf) looks like a peed off hippo anyway.
 
Gutted about the match. I thought we deserved to win, and finally upped the tempo when Rooney got sent off. I was amazed with Ronaldo and Rooneys face said it all, I think he was as shocked as what we were as it was not a blatant stamp. The amount of times they tried to get free kicks by diving also was ridiculous. I think all the way through the tournament we did what we had to do to beat the other team, and although we didn't play our best we did what he needed to. I thought we deserved to win and it would have been great if we had pipped them with one goal. Still penalties are usually our downfall, and it now means that I won't miss a France England semi whilst I am on the plane off on my hols hehe woo. :D
 
Not being a footy fan I have to laugh at threads like these, the waht if's, the we should haves and why didn't we win....

It's the same every major tourney where the English have it in their heads they should win.... Theres a good reason why they don't, and there is a difference between supporting your country and expecting too much...

Oh well till another four years time...

lol it went into penalties. england played better up until that point, im not even a footy fan and i can see that!

as i said in my post, the portugese keeper did very well to save the amount of penalties he did...
 
Really felt the game should have been ours on a couple of occasions but you just knew as soon as it hit penalties then it wasnt going to be our tournament.
 
i saw the coming from becks said to my dad he will give the arm band over at the end of this tournament, means the can drop him for lennon now
 
devastation...I thought we played well hence why it stayed 0-0 throughout the match are defence what on good form but Rooney cant play up front alone he needs someone to play off. Hardgreaves played surprisingly well. and yeh Ronaldo is a #### the EDITED EDITED (not evading the swear filter here) - (Arnold - Yes you were!) but least Rooney got to stamp on some balls!
 
I'd love to get a ticket to Uniteds first match back here if Ronaldo plays, he must be the most hated player in England at the moment.

its not just about the scorin the he is a blatent cheat he was trying to get rooney sent off all match u have to remember he knows him very well so he knows what buttons to push

rooney shouldnt have risen too it, saying its all ronaldos faults bit stupid, as much of a (wont swear) he is, rooney still shouldnt have risen to it!

God im sorry but is every1 on this site really #### perfect he is from liverpool for gods sake and grew up on a council estate he plays with his heart anbd sometimes it gets a bit carried away
