ive just bought a 92 1.0 super and this might sound stupid bt wen i start it it sits there revin its head off for about 10 minutes and then calms down is this normal or a fault if it is normal is there any way of stopping it.

also what are the biggest wheel/tyre combination you can fit to a standard suspended micra without modifying the body work. cheers

erm, if its arround 1500rpm, then yes its normal engine warming.. if not then it may be the throttle body broken.

wheels and tyres, the best combo you can get is light weight and 195,45,15 tyres.

you can fit 16"s and even 17"s, but i wouldnt recomend it, it would look like a tractor..lol

Antony,

He's got a K10, No throttle body on these!

I'd say 14/15" Wheels on a K10, anything bigger looks stupid or rubs arches.

I'd also reccomend improving the suspension by uprating the shocks and springs.

if its got auto choke maybe someone has set the fast idle too high so it screams until its warmed up abit and then the choke goes off and the speed drops to normal?

yeah but could also be leaky vacumn hose, incorrect timing, incorrectly adjusted throttle cable or drivers foot frozen solid slightly pushing down on the pedal.

For starters take the air pan off and spray a load of WD40 around the autochoke and its connections. also if you rev it after a minute or too does that settle the revs cause the autochoke won't often stop operating untill you do that.

Sit in the Drivers seat and shut the Door, place right foot on Accelerator very lightly untill you hear a 'click' from the Engine bay. That'll be the choke being taken off prime. It should slow the revs down quicker than before.

On cold days you start the car but do not touch the Accelerator until about a minute or so, give a quick blip on the Accelerator and the revs should drop.

Yeah you should be able to disengage the auto choke after a couple of minutes, but i found my 10 always revved higher in the colder months. As summer is coming, it should get better.
