this is probably going to sound a little childish but i live in a ground floor flat and the guy above me jumps around his room like an elephant on speed, then stamps around the house. this is fine during the day, but it carries on well into the night, sometimes til 3 or 4 in the morning.
we've been up to ask if he would mind being a tad quieter but we just got a load of abuse, the door slammed in our face and even more noise!
hes even started buzzing our intercom every time he walks past it, espeically when hes drunk and at stupid times.
we have the same landlord
is there any thing we can do or is it just something we have to live with?
 
Dont see why you should have to put up with that. you could either become just as bad, take up dj'ing or buy a drum kit and keep going until the early hours, or just buzz his buzzer like he is. He may realise then being loud is a pain and will change his ways, otherways speak to your landlord or the police and see what advice they can offer. He'l probably get an Asbo at most though!
 
Pretty much breach of the peace. If he is going on to that time then inform the landlord, if he does nothing then the police.

Don't do what Arnold says, thats just as bad and will probably get you in as much bother, I wouldn't lower yourself.
 
lol i would lower myself lol but im childish haha order loads of pizzas for him!
 
go to a few of those wierd religion sect shops, scientology, dianetics, mormons, jos' witnesses, jesus army, that sort of thing and tell them your very interested to learn more about their beliefs, tell them you're too busy to talk right now but could they send someone round to his address to discuss it, once they have the address of a possible convert they wont let go.
 
ill bring richeis 2 15 inch speakers and his 1000w amp, that'll make him shut up. if he wakes me up this weekend. At 5 am the next night. I'm going to hit his front door as hard as i can with a golf club and run away like a girl :)
 
I had the same problem last night, the guy next door started mixing and doing a bit of MC-ing at 2.30am... and i had a lecture at 8.30

i was looking to see if there was an eletrical box I could "fix" to rectify the problem.... if not i think theres a cricket bat left here from last years students... may come in useful (Y)!

its best not to even confront him. Because then he knows who has made a complaint. People will almost always be abusive if you do so, there are laws to deal with this, and not surprisingly websites to offer advice...

thats student accomodation 4 ya, glad im outta it now... just tell landlord, if he does nothing then lower urself below his level, coz that way u wnt get ne sleep but ull feel better bout it lol

Ah Ed the mature voice of reason... :) What he said or personally I'd go to the police as they will deal with it as antisocial behaviour, just don't phone 999 :p Not really your landlord's problem so probably not worth hassling him, don't want to annoy him!

There's my 2p...
 
i dont really want to be making enemies so soon after moving here, so is there anything i can do that wont make him want to stamp on my head rather than on my light fittings?
 
just a minor update

the git is still stamping around, i lost my temper earlier, punched my ceiling and now have a broken hand
