My other hobby, Rubber Side Down

Thought I'd share this build with you guys

Whilst living with the parents I thought I'd save a little money by cycling to work, the only problem with that plan was I didn't have bike. So instead of doing the sensible thing and buying one I decided to build one to my own spec.

Rather than going into great deal I'll let the pictures do the talking

The starting blocks of the build, Silverfox SuperNova.

The final finished product, after finding out that my rebuilt Hayes 9 brakes were shot :( I had to get a new rear brake.

That looks pretty cool :). I've converted mine to 9 speed. I realised I never used the big ring or the granny ring so I took 'em off and fitted a ring guard where the big ring used to be.

I was originally going to go with a max of 7sp but decided I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of gears or the weight (ok so it's only a few grams but that's a few to many)

Still think whether or not it's worth getting a front brake :)

Lol, mine are a set of Pace RC-35 and have 2" travel on a good day :D. I built them from bits I bought on Retrorides, I even had to draw out the decals in Coreldraw and have them made up. I had a set of these in the early nineties, they were among the first suspension forks ever and have been improved alot since then :p. Wanted to run standard canti's but could only find V's:

That should soak some of the impact then lol.. Did my first ever bike build last year and i have just realized i don't have a single decent pic of it.Will have to go and take some l8er and post on here me thinks..

The forks are marzocchi drop off 3 with 6inch travel, almost everything was bought from ebay :)

it's actually my 3rd or 4th bike build, my favourite build was my stubby framed bmx god I miss that bike

Lee feel free to add your bike here, after all we all have other hobbies

This is my 2002 orange 222 dh rig i built last year after my loverly wife to be got me the frame for my birthday in 2010 :)
It was made up from mostly second hand parts apart from the wheels which were a custom build..
I also have a mongoose teocali super for trail riding and used to have a gt pro performer bmx ,but that went coz i kept falling off it trying to show off to the kids lol..

Them gears are only used in extreme situations. going very fast or managing steep terain.
Full susp for the comfort :)

Do it you wont regret it!! I have ridden mine down the llangollen track as it is only 15 mins from my house and seriously steep and challenging..
I live in wales so never far away from a mountain to push up and fire down :)

Yer i got in to bikes to try and keep fit and i thought it would be a cheap hobby and stop me spending all my money on cars..
That plan went well  Ended up with two expensive hobbies lol

Nice looking bike, reminds me of when I built my dirt/jump bike :p I think I spent about 900 - 1000 on building it. Best bike i've ever owned though, and the lightest one i'd ever ridden :)

Yeah DMR have some very good ones. I was going to get another wheel & put a DMR Moto Digger tyre on it, so I could swap wheels depending on dirt/street riding
