hopefully it is a easy cheap repair at a wheel refurb centre.

What noises are you getting?

I'd contact the council about that and attempt to claim compensation for the damage.

i'm taking pics of pot hole and phoning council tomorrow. Not sure if it is repairable, looks fairly structural (SP) :(

I wouldn't get it repaired mate, I'd get it repaced, no point taking a chance with wheels.

I'd get in contact with the council as it is there responsibility to keep the roads in a reasonable condition.

May be an idea to speak to Ed as he went through something similar.

I'd attempt to sue their arses! you were lucky mate as that could've been much much worse...claim for everything...wheel, time, stress....absolutely anything.

yer if it had been wet/dark could have been worse.
When i took the wheel of there seemed to be play in the bearing and i'm getting a clicking as i'm going slowly, none of which was there before grr

Potentionally you could have done damage to the hub, steering rack, shock, lower control arm (wish bone). I would get everything checked out, either by yourself or a competant mechanic (mechanically minded person).

Sucks man, I've hit pot holes before, I think the damage done to my steering rack is due to pot holes, but may be wear n tear, who knows.

If you do get anything from the council, expect a nice long wait!!!

i cant see the pics, but it'd have to be pretty bad for it not to be repairable- i've seen a few bad n's cut, welded and repaired recently.

depending how much work is needed and what type of alloys they are, a new one could be even cheaper than a repair tho.

hope you sort it soon

ive seen tommos old enekei alloys cracked and repaired! the crack was right across the back of the alloy (where the wheel weights go) it was really bad! was welded up by a proffeshnial, and smoothed in the end it looked like new...

altought its not somthing i would trust myself as iam like that. we had one in at work, (was a steel) it had a bump like yours, we just hammered it out till it was curved (like normal) that was ok....but steels are easier to bend back into shape than alloys... i would say your damage is repair abale.

come to think of it, the back of my brock alloy has a flat spot (not as bad as yours) ive weighted it all up twice and it still judders/vinbarted through the steering wheel! if you do get it repaired it wont be as good as it was before but will be better...and will be weaker in that spot, so if repaired i would be carfull lol.

i wouldnt be surprised if the shock absorber has blown, this happened to me once when i hit a pot hole and the shock basically lost all its fluid and it made some horrible noises, make sure you check em mate, hope you get it sorted

well i had advisorys on my mot for dampers so it may well have finished it off.
Went back and took some pictures of the hole today.

i wouldnt they will probabaly take several years to pay up even if they do, shocking damage to the wheel!!! when are the goverment going to stop wasting money on speed camera's and tackle the crap roads we have to drive on?!?!? fixing the roads would reduce accidents much more than some pathetic camera!

with those photos and a letter sent to them, they will pay up!, if not show them to a lawyer, he'll have a field day with that! :)

i'll probably print them off and go in there. if they say they won't pay out then i'll go to the press.

have a word with pete (petefm)off here he may be able to help!

or at least give some advise!

if i recall previously aswell didnt pete (micrapete) do something with roads, speedhumps etc?

both these may be able to help with legality structures of roads etc

thats massive.......... i'm surprised you dont need to visit the dentist aswell!
