Mot question

When the brake lines are checked is it the whole length of the car or is it just the lines to the hubs?

Flexies are checked as well as the solid lines from the master cylinder all the way back.

thought so.... I'm confused then, the pre mot said that the brake lines were dangerously corroded but i've just checked them and they look fine to me

the only things that need replacing is the o/s/f outer cv gaiter and an exhaust rubber

Could be that they are just pitted in one place thinning the metal to a point that is "dangerous".

They usually go first where they are clipped onto the car.
The pipe only needs to be corroded across a very small section to actually fail.

I had this on an MOT a few years back, took the car back home and checked it out and found it to be nothing more than very caked hard mud on the outside of the hard lines which are in close proximity to the fuel tank. Scraped it all off and have never had it mentioned again.
