put my 7x13 superlights on today and theres a large gap between the wheel and arch as i expected, anybody have any advice or experience on how many mm i will need to lower it by to get a nice fit?:grinning:
Well I bought 60mm Apex lowering springs all round, with uprated KYB dampers, and have cut a coil off each corner as well, so must be 80mm/90mm by now. I can't go any lower because my alloys are 15x8, and I would need rolled/flared arches and negative camber, as it currently scrubs a lot. You might be able to get away with 100mm lowering springs without needing negative camber, and just roll the arches
Measuring them is your best bet. But go too low on 7x13 -7et superlites and you can easily rub the tyres. You'l probably find that height adjustable coilovers would be best to reduce tyre-arch gap to nil
Well mine must be about 90mm lower then, because the arch gap is less than 1cm. So maybe the same as mine or Marks wouldn't quite have the tyres in the arches
15x8 alloys, 1.5" dish, 195/45/R15 tyres with quite a bit of stretch, and can't go any lower without flaring the arches, as the outside rim of the alloys will hit the arches even if I rolled them. As it stands now, you can fit a finger between the tyres and the arches all round, and no more.
Thanks, always good to recieve compliments on ones car :grinning:. Apex lowering springs and KYB uprated dampers. They were originally 60mm, but I decided they just weren't low enough for the look I wanted to achieve, so chopped another coil off on each corner. It's about as low as I can go without negative camber and arch flaring, I'll be going lower with my next project. There have been people on here that have gone lower than me - Stani and Matt are 2 that spring to mind
