knocking noise

have just adjusted the tappets but it still sounds the same :/

Think its worth checking the chain tensioners, because I read somewhere that they can break. (Y)

well it's been like this since we got the car back in 2006 :S is there a way to check if its the tensioner without taking stuff apart?

As far as i know all it takes is an inspection cover being removed by a few bolts. (Dont forget to seal after!) fwn

what did you set the tappets to btw ?

yes, k10 belt driven. I set the tappets to what haynes says (0.25mm inlet 0.3mm outlet) when it was warm

no you dont, even if theyre worn you still set the gap to what the haynes manual says, you check and set them every so often because of wear.

The rods wear a little hole in the tappets and mess up the reading. I just set them by trial and error, although I found the K10 always ran better a bit tappety

#### me, its only a k10, you could pick up a new engine for the price of that tool! Ive got an ma10 sat here doing nothing for cheap if anyone wants it lol, Also ma engines are overhead cam so no push rods to wear little holes in the tappets.

Yeah but the valve will, also the cams get a bit grooved as well, further pushing out your reading.
