Found these pictures whilst looking to mod the k12 I bought however there were no write ups about them or specs other than they are sr16ve and sr20ve, but it shows that these can be sorted with engine upgrades..........

I only wish I could find build specs and what was involved in the conversion! but I guess were talking a few thousand quid I bet, but on the plus side we know they fit so there is bound to be a budget method so with that in mind I will keep searching

found a link about this on the sr20 forums and to even think about it costs a few grand lol
He has posted here with this before and is very happy with the results except for the electric power steering not working due to it being linked by CANBUS.
There is a way but it requires keeping the standard ecu powered but not sending info to the injectors etc.

If I ever decide to do a upgrade I think it would have to be re loomed and the electric power steering done away with but with what I would have to see, there is bound to be a way using other nissan parts but for now im not even thinking of it. I might buy a write off k12 and see what can be done later in the year when the weather warms up a bit.....then again scraped knuckles sore fingers head scratching ect lol

Exactly I wouldnt do it any other way, makes life so much easier then you know what your dealing with
Is there a suitable power steering option other than electric for this vehicle?
The fix is quite easy, it just takes a little studying of the manual. The manual lists which component talks or listens to what so you can remove a lot of the extra stuff.
