Insurance accelerator?

Mate of mine said to ask my insurance for an "accelerator", said it adds a bit to premium but you build up NCB faster, is he right?

The accelerator is basically a 9 month policy, but at the end of it you get a 1 years NCB. You pay the same as an equivalent 12 month policy so it is more expensive.

I just stick to the 12mo ones :)

I'm on my 3rd year of NCB already, my parents refused to put me on their policy from day 1 so by the time i'm 25 I should be up to 7 years no claims :D

I'm on one of these. 9 month policy with Norwich union for new drivers. I'm fully comp for £460 with a years NCB after the 9 months. Seems like a good deal to me.

but you still would have paid thousands more compared to if you had waited until your 25 to get your own policy on 0 ncb.
