Help identifying parts: Engine of death :D

Hi guys and gals,

Bust pulling it to pieces, have come across some bit that are not covered in the Haynes.

What be these??

The brown thing only has one pipe attatched, would this cause non start issues?? I think its an EGR valvue of some sort?

This sits on the left of the carb as you look at it with XG on top of it:

Will load pics and google it to death tomorrow :D

Upon opening my eyes and actually looking at the pictures properly, them pictures are of an ecc engine :B

ecc was on the late k10's right? so that is both of ours lol :D
i will be removing all the EGR stuff soon though :D

If you were to replace the engine its much much easier just to take it all out as one lump. :)

Photobucket keeps messing up the hotlinks:
cut and paste from so.com im afraid, im lazy

So with the help of the mighty HESH we set to work on it, stripping the engine and taking count of what state the car was in :D

Major issues so far have just been the odd seized bolt, but 90% of it has been pretty #### up free :D

Question:
If I buy a 1987 K10 with manual box, I am hoping its a simple swap into the auto, but what unforseen hurdles am I likely to come up againts?

I have decided to keep the engine mods simple, with possible bike carbs helping with the extra oomph, but the 3 speed gearbox is the major hangup with the car.

Cheers Ed, thinking of getting a donor from egay and doing it at the end of the month.

Ref the Skyline, I'll be honest its a toss up between RSP and Fusion, sent Charlie a message to see if he will allow me to play with dyno for free :D or lots of Cider :D
