Can anyone who lives in london telll me wether there is a train station near gatwick airport? If not, what is the easiest and cheapest way to get there? I could drive, but it would cost a fortune to leave the car in the airport carpark for 3 weeks.

There's a train station in gatwick airport :) Get off the train, up the escilator (sp) and your inside the south terminal :)

Is it national railway station though? because I'd be coming from Newcastle Central Station. like GNER or Virgin Trains.

Yep! You can get trains from edinburgh to brighton which stop at Gatwick :) Its quite a big station down south. I think that particular train (Virgin service) may also go through newcastle

Most services i think from the north end up at kings cross, and you'l either have to take the tube or walk to a connecting station at some point to complete your journey!

Hope that helps

2 Options:
1) Get a train from Newcastle to Kings Cross, then hop on the tube (on the Victoria Line) to Victoria and get the Gatwick Express to the airport :) (this option is quicker, but Gatwick Express is probably more expensive - very nice trains though :))
2) Get a train from Newcastle to Kings Cross, then walk to Kings Cross Thameslink Station and get the First Capital Connect to Gatwick :)

Actually flying is probably a better idea! That'd be my preference over trains / coaches anyday

I don't know? I have to go to the passport office to get a new one, because I go away in 2 weeks. So thats gonna be like £77.50 to get it within a week :-(

I was told they arent required for internal flights, however we still had to show them to get into the departure lounge anyway so probably best to have one, just incase!
