let me see yours :grinning:

I think I have 5 or 6 grinders in the workshop, each with different disk types on for cutting or grinding metal or stone and paint stripping. I don't think I can be bothered to take a pic though lol

the explanation is good enough if no pics
out of the ones you have which ones go Grrrrrr ,then power up nicely, ,like the one i pic'd up goes

For general grinding I use a Bosch 12v grinder.
For preping for welding I use a cheap 12v grinder (from Lidl ) and flap wheels.
Have small pneumatic air cut off tool that is lethal and noisy so we try not to use it.
Dewalt 18v cordless andle grinder with cracked casing, bought for taking to scrapyard but as the casings broken you have to hold the battery on. So it sits there unused and unloved!
And, for when all else fails we have a beast of a 9" 110v Bosch angle grinder! (Can 'remove' a K11 rear axle in 11 seconds!)

Pics to follow!(Y)

Oh go on then R-Reg, my baby here:

Scored her for fifty notes in a sale (Y).

Guy! Did you have your grinder valeted before that pic?

Having second thoughts about posting my pics now, dont want to be known as the guy with dirty rough looking grinders!

Nah, it's quite new to be honest :)blush:). Already made short work of a seized track rod end, lots of 1/2" threaded rod etc. I LOVE the superthin 1mm cutting discs - pure lethal :grinning:.

Yer we've got one of the Bosch 9" ones aswell, its kick ass!

The day we got our big Bosch grinder our apprentice (Suzy) was 1st to use it. She was cutting a back axle off a K11. Whilst negotiating the link bars the wheel caught the inner wheelarch and pulled her forward smashing her face off the outer arch. The shape of the injuries got her the nickname 'Phantom of the opera'!

grinder stories are priceless though
i was taking the arms of axle and kept getting itching on my head whilst grinding,,,,,,,,,only a while after i realized it was molten metal clinging to me head top :grinning:

Think Frank must have borrowed his from the ship breaking beach in Bangladesh :D:

lol guy :grinning: H & S over there is a bit lax eh  barefoot flame cutting, and they beach the ship by steering it in at full chat on high tide eh

Im not a bit fan of grinders at the moment, I was doing a bit of grinding at work, ( a thin piece of metal) it sliced through my hand and cut my tendon, cut through a vein (causing blood to squirt out like a horror film or something) and went through nerves, my company are ####ting themselves seeing as im the apprentice and unsupervised at the time, i wouldnt mind it wasnt even the angle grinder, or the surface grinders, or any sort of big grinder that i was using, it was a smaller pnuematic powered grinder, i never expected anything to grab on the smaller one :/

is this some kind of fetish?

i bought a cheap grinder, but the bearings went in it a few hours after i got it. i didn't notice but it wobbled just enough so that it would eat through disks, in the end i bought a much better one and everything has been fine since.
