this is mainly aimed at ed or those with a good understanding of this device, which one are you meant to get or are they all compatible with micra's?

im guessing that youhave to plumb it into your rev cable somewhere or maybe your gearbox

please explain and advise which one is good and what is a good price for one.
G-tech on ebay

Many thanks

Dave

RE: G-tech timers

You dont do anything, you just stick it on the window level it and make dead sure that your stopped before your run and that the road is as level as you can find.

It works by a built in accelerometer. Knowing rate of acceleration over time means you can work out distance travled and speed gained. Which is exactly what they do :)

RE: G-tech timers

I thought they'd cost alot more than the £35 buy it now ones on ebay! Are those ones pretty crap or is that a fairly average price to pay?

RE: G-tech timers

The older G tech is quite outdated now so they do sell cheap.

RE: G-tech timers

damn they are clever little things arnt they. so if no wirings needed i could pic anyone from that page on ebay and they would work just fine..yes?

cheers

Im tempted to get one too. One of the auctions i saw said they'd do a discount on multiple purchases. If they're good enough, and we get a few of us together, we could get em cheaper.

Post your interest here if you are :)

RE: G-tech timers

i'm tempted too, if they do all they say they do and fairly accurately, it'd be great!

RE: G-tech timers

Count me in too :) And I believe this guy: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43120&item=7971937727&rd=1 Does a discount on 5 or more :)

James.

I would also be interested in this too. Sounds quite interesting!!! May have to hang on a while until I have some money though lol. :)

It's £40 inc delivery.....wont be under £35 inc.

Even with a bulk order, they still need distributing to individual people.

forget that then i'm just gonna go with this buy it now on ebay £32 inc delivery..

id be up for a group buy...so does anyone wanna go ahead and try and get a discount, if not ill just buy one for £35

what do ya all reckon

the £32 inc delivery ebay auction is still on. there were about 50 units left when i bought mine. its in the post already expecting it monday. do a search for gtech and not g tech.

i predict next week a g-tech battle post. who gets what times etc. should be fun. need to find a variety of flat roads to test it on now. the main use i will have for it though is testing various modification performances and mixture settings and for this it doesnt mater if i do the runs on a big hill as its the comparison time that will be the valuable data.

You could always use a 12V feed off the battery, or the 12V memory feed from your stereo.

I'm not sure if mine has a cigarette lighter now, i'm gonna have to check in a minute!

James :)

You can buy them (cig lighters) from Halfords for £7 quid, 3 wires, easy as to install

any details on this any one emailed the seller?

I have (as above) but no reply as yet. If i dont hear anything from them then i guess we get the £32 ones. Fingers crossed i'l hear something from them though.

Right i've just been told he'l ship them to seperate addresses for £30 each. On the assumption we'l be buying 15. Sadly three people have decided to spend the extra £2 on impatience, which im hoping wont effect everyone else. I know its only a saving of £2 but its better than a kick in the gonads.

I'l ask him if he'l accept payment from individual people, but he may want the whole thing in one go (to go via me for example), so keep your eyes peeled. If he wants it in one go, i'l need the cash by cheque (cheques must be guaranteed), bank transfer and possibly paypal. Anyone got any problems with that, raise your hands

Ed / James know im a nice trustworthy guy (dont ya lads :p) so i wont take your money and run! If you feel safer with James taking over the financial side of things (being the admin) then im quite happy with that, and i'l forward the guys details & correspondance to him!. Either way, im easy

Ta

Yeah, Arnolds a nice trusting guy, plus I know where he lives :p

The final question remains: Can we get 15 people in on this? Come on people! :D

Yeah i know it aint much but with all the people saying 'i'l have one' etc, i didnt think there'd be a problem getting this sorted.. now that the price is on the table, people as ever, back out & dont commit themselves. A known annoyance amongst MSC users.

Looks like we'l have to ditch the idea. I did try!

Well i count about 12 or so on the previous page, shouldnt take much to pull the extra three people together - or so i thought

oh yes didnt think it was that many. dont know what happened to them then. bit quiet from them. as i said before my reason for not waiting was the advice i took from retepetesir that it wouldnt be cheaper.

The price would have been lower than that, but as they were going to individual addresses, it rose to £30! still a saving, no matter how minor it is. Anyway, this whole thing has dragged on too long & i certainly cant be arsed to carry it on. Its obviously not going to happen. All those people that said they wanted one yet havent even bothered to follow it up - bloody timewasters grr

Sorry about that - but 25% off is quite a big drop, and I've never seen that sort of discount before. It's still only £2 more than the group buy, and you saved yourself £8 on the original £40 anyway....
