Earthing Wire? Where Did It Come From? K10 Help.

Ok this morning was cleaning the car (check me blogs for results) when i opened the engine bay to strap my bonnet holder into place (broken clip) i found this:
it starts here:

then goes down through a ziptie holder thingy!

and then back upto... wait... nothing!!

any ideas what it is? where from? if its an earthing lead of some kind i think it might be useful to put it back on
oh and yes am aware my engine needs a clean (Y)

Is there a earth lead going to the left hand side bolt at the top of the cam belt cover? as one goes there and it appears to look like it. If the other side comes from the body of the car it is likely to be an earth. As i said check if there is on on the cam cover, look at the photos in my super s blog if you dont know what i mean

hha thought i recognised that engine lol it should be the one on the left of the rocker (Y)
