does the light blue wire labled ATT on my sony HU make the stereo quieter when i give it a 12v signal?

i'm re wiring the HU and it could be useful to know what is does and how to use it :)

thanks ppl

Yes, i think basically you wire this to a switch. If you want to talk to someone (on the phone, wind the window down etc) you can press it to reduce the volume. Press it again to turn it off.

Some head units have this feature built in as a button, a menu option or automatically works if connected to a handsfree mobile phone kit :)

ah brilliant!! thanks mate, :)

i thought it was something like that... now i can wire it into some kind of relay that switches on when my mobile rings or something :)

thanks loads you da man lol

It's supposed to be wired to a car hands-free kit (the ones that are installed all over the car - £200+ quid or so). It automatically mutes the stereo (or attenuates a lot) when there's a phone call in place.

I suppose you could put a switch on it, but all HU's I've seen that have the wire also have an obvious front panel switch that you press to get the same effect (labelled ATT or something like that).

thanks mate,

yea i've just had a look on my HU and its up in the corner and on the steering wheel controls too :)

but this way i can have it automated :D
