wiring a coolant temp gauge

hey everyone, recently I've decided to acquire a coolant temp gauge and tried wiring it to the ignition switch. its for a 2003 K12 Micra, 1.2 65hp manual trans. I've tried to find any pinouts or somewhat understandable wiring diagrams and the only one I've found is really confusing. I need help with wiring it or at least a decent diagram that is readable to a normal human. I found one diagram but its really confusing and kinda has no corelation with whatever my multimeter says

Hi there,

I had a problem with my coolant light on my dash so decided to use a OBD2 readout unit, these units plug in to the OBD unit under the dash.
I have had no problems from the multiple readouts this has provided. These units should work out of the box, other wise you may have a wiring problem with the cars OBD unit !?

well, my trusted mechanic didn't find any problem with obd port wiring, so it could be just the fact that most of these obd2 gauges dont work on my 2003 micra but could work on a later, after facelift models (read that they did in fact had different obd2 protocol). now my problem is that I tried wiring the gauge and turns out the gauge itself is for a single pin grounded temp sensor and not for a two pin temp sensor, which I have. gonna buy a adapter for the coolant pipe and then wire it back, hopefully it will then work.

Plus, I don't like the look of these obd readers, and the chunky cable is pretty much impossible to hide anywhere
