Just tried this on mine but it’s a 2017 one with nav. I just have it in 24 hour mode generally but it seems to keep the setting when I switch it the way you described. I know sometimes it’s worth locking the car and leaving it 10mins for everything to shutdown properly otherwise it may not always retain any changes
