better than a T2, but still probably too small, however site member geoff_w is using a hiflowed and trimed T2 in his conversion. I went through this a few months back, i first bought a T2 then sold that at a loss, and found the gt17's going cheap on ebay and was going to pick one up. Their off late model Saab 9-5's and usualy need 'seals' replaced due to the cars not having turbo timers and owners driving them hard and switching off when the turbo is still hot, some issue with the angle they were mounted at (i think), can't remember exactly, google it. They only ran very low boost on the saabs, i think 4psi. My guess is it would go allright but you might loose some possible power gain at top end. I've decided i'm going to use a std T25 or if i get lucky and find a GT25 cheap, they have been proven on several members cars,

Alex

well thats interesting.....

still leaves me undecided

I think I would like power for real life stuff (low/mid range for corner to corner stuff with little lag) .... so is there any prob with starting out with a cheap gt17 and upgrading to a t25 (gt25) as my desire for evil powers increase, other than the minor(if any) changes to the exhaust header etc?

more thoughts please. thanks alex b!

For sure, slam it on there and see how it goes, you might love it. I'd imagine it will spool up bloody quickly, but will probably feel pretty linear above 4000rpm etc, but that's ok. Will still give you a lot of poke.
