PistonHeads.com: Super Fuels A 'Waste Of Money'

The diesel one was obvious imo. I tried this on my van and it made absolutely no difference to mpg or anything at all. However to say they are a waste is untrue when it come to cars that can use the fuel to its full potential.

Which? Car editor Richard Headland said:
'For many cars it’s a waste of money paying over the odds for so-called "super fuels"

well duh.

...they obviously only make a difference if the cars setup to use it.

I don't consider the difference to be major with my mileage and the car seems to run smoother with 97-ron/v power. Don't remember anyone hyping them up as "Super fuels"

I remember when james put that bp ultimate in his K11 SR at £2.40 a litre !

I cant believe they used standard cars to test it

Its because if you read all the advertising they claim your going to get loads of extra mpg, smoother running engine etc. If it claimed on the jargon that it was performance only then thats different! :)

I find i get a few more miles to the tank, although not enough to warrant price difference, the difference in miles was a lot larger on my motorbike (30 miles difference to a tank!)

Mine runs smoother and slightly better performance :)

Must add that only tesco 99 octane is any good, there 97 is crap...
