the roof sits on a couple of different points in the boot along with the linkages taking some of the strain from the panel above. have you greased all the linkages? then as above it's worth a blast of silicone on all the rubber seats and seals around the boot lid to rejuvanate them. there is some adjustment in the seats but I'd be tempted to leave well alone on adjustment until you've cleaned everything up.
