afaik it's a relay and that's why it clicks



slight differences on the amount of pins but the concept is the same. Electric flowing through coil throws the switch, the switch being closed allows current to flow to indicator bulbs, current stops flowing through coil, switch springs back closed, indicator lights go out. I'd imagine the chip inside gives it some sort of intelligence that tells it how often to click on and off when you push the indicator lever left or right and energise the circuit. or that could be controlled by the capacitor I don't really know
