crash test on channel 5

A new espace vs a land rover. The espace came out on top, just shows you that people are under very false impressions of big 4x4's. The espace deflected the damage along the roof and sill while the driver of the discovery was crushed by his dash board. Quite interesting i found :)

You watching Fifth Gear to huh?

Why do they call it that?? half the cars on it have six gears, so what do they do drive around without using the sixth gear?

thanks to media centre

They have a pretty short track dont they? So they probably dont get into 6th :upside:

I've started a debate here...lol

Nah, The try so hard to copy Top Gear...But you can't, its simply unbeatable...

i dont think they really copy it, they have their own style really, but if you dont like it, simpley dont watch it ;)

there was one ep where tiff read out emails n one q was the thing about 6 gears n his reply was along the lines of were on ch5...

u can still cruise in 6th gear for normal driving...in the s2000 n cooper s none choke at 30mph...can go as low as 20 then u need to swap...

i cant lol...i tried about 3 times and ended up turning over cos it was boring

i dont see the point in it...at least top gear is funny

Have to remember that the Espace is a modern vehicle than hat model Discovery is based on the 1970's Range Rover chassis.

Its hardly a prime example of structural integrity. But yes the results are spot on, big cars are not safer.

I'm a bit worried about the Disco's lack of airbag deployment there...

Rest assured though, a K10 will nearly always lose in any battle with cars, trees, or street furniture. But it does mean you die rather than get horribly maimed.

lol thats true and TBH i don't think a K11 is too much better, i'm hoping the polo is going to be better then it. The reason they compared an old land rover to a new espace is because they were both in the same price range.

which is little comfort when i have pretty much 200bhp
!!!
Tbh it doesnt really bother me in your car, considering the power it kicks out I'd just disentegrate on impact so I wouldnt feel anything lolol

i crashed a K11 (was a 2000 model) at 30 mph a long time back, and it got damaged quite badly (like at the front, headlights, bonnett, etc) but didnt get as far as the radiator, not even nearly i dont think!

im not sure if thats good or not but its just my contribution to the topic ;)

The thought of crashing my K10 is a bit scary.. not sure if im more worried about wrecking all the hard work thats gone into it, or me ending up in hospital! I definitly wouldnt own a K10 if i had kids, but as its just me, i'l take the risk!

Are there any Jap cars with decent safety ratings? you only seem to hear about Clio's etc!

i think a 2000 has some revised protection though, they are 14 year old cars after all, can't really compare to modern standards im getting

Top Gear (BBC) went off air for a while so the presenters went their seperate ways.

Tiff and the bike chick went to 5th Gear along side the BTCC champ - this is the best show for drivers as the "presenters" are race drivers.

Driven was a channel 4 show by the woman rally champ and one of the blokes from deals on wheels. Ok show - nothing out of this world.

While the BBC realised that car shows are good and got back top gear with clarkson and dumb and dumber. - only the Stig is the pro driver which is ok. the only thing that makes this stand out is the crazy "clarkson" style tasks they do each week.

Off subject i know but worth noting. :)

my crash was at 40mph and it was like hitting a brick wall, i survived thanks to me bracing myself, if i did hit the wheel i still think i would have survived. Safety has moved on alot since k10's thank god
