Full on swaps require a lot of work, though I don't know too much about the SR20 swaps on these I've seen people say you need different axles or to machine them down. I read on here that some people make a spark killer by just having a switch for the spark wire coming form the ECU, so it carries on chucking fuel in but if you cut the spark for a brief second it will just spit the fuel in the exhaust, so as soon as you flick the switch back and it fires again...

In my Haynes it was the blue one but theres also another diagram (I'm guessing for later models) which seems to suggest it would be a Blue/Yellow wire. There is also a Purple one which goes directly to the ECU, I don't know if you can use that one though.

If you're talking of that silver fascia in the middle with the radio in it then yes it comes off, and very easily so. Its just four little philips head screws, two facing upwards where the radio is and another two on the bottom piece near the ashtray if I remember right, shouldn't be too hard...
