TPS sensor from ebay - any good?

Daniel On a side note - you mentioned earlier about timing. When I look at the data on my scanner I see the figure for SPARKADV at 63 when the ignition is on, engine off. When I start it up, SPARKADV reads around 20 to 25 at idle - it's not stable, but that's probably because the revs are...

TPS sensor from ebay - any good?

Does it have to be running? Everywhere I've read online simply says ignition on.

TPS sensor from ebay - any good?

Daniel - it's a later, coilpack K11 - the TPS isn't adjustable by swivelling on these, it's a fixed, one position screw. Just connected the scanner up to see what it's reading this morning With ignition on, but engine off, the TPS readings are jumping about all over the place - anywhere from...

TPS sensor from ebay - any good?

I've already tried disconecting the TPS to see if it helped with the low idle - didn't make any difference. I think there is a fair chance that disconnecting the TPS would solve the problem of sudden high revs - so if that happens again and the car becomes undriveable, I'll give it a go.

TPS sensor from ebay - any good?

Thinking I might need a new Throttle Position sensor for my 2001 K11, so I'm interested to see if anyone has had any luck with a cheap ebay TPS. I've had a problem with a low idle when warm for some time and after plugging in my OBD2 scanner it was showing a TPS reading of around 7% at idle - I...

    Idle Observations about Idle

Just noticed my throttle cable seems slightly loose - I think there is supposed to be a little slack in it, but even bearing that in mind it still looks like it could be tightened just a touch. Would a slightly loose throttle cable cause my TPS reading to be at 6%, rather than the ideal 10% at...

    Idle Observations about Idle

I'd like to know that myself. Anyone? Re: My idle problem I think I may have figured out what's going on. Using my OBD2 scanner today, while the car was idling (when warm), the live data showed my TPS reading at around 6% - I think I'm right in saying that it should be at 10%, plus or minus...

    Idle Observations about Idle

Nissan Datascan seems to have the ability to perform various adjustments - one of which is "base idle adjust". I'm sure it's not the same as the full Nissan Consult that you would find at a dealership or Nissan specialist - but a lot cheaper of course.

    Idle Observations about Idle

Sounds like good news. So, if this shows my IAC valve is working correctly, is there any point in me trying to get it off to clean it? Found the throttle stop screw, but I haven't adjusted it yet. Do I turn it clockwise or anti-clockwise to raise the idle?

    Idle Observations about Idle

Thanks for the input Frank - I thought that the idle should be adjusted via the diagnostic port - but am I doing any harm by using the throttle stop screw? Is there an easy way to get some software that can make simple adjustments? My OBD2 scanner is quite good, but it just reads data - it...

    Idle Observations about Idle

Thanks Marc - I'm still learning my way around this, so I'm not sure exactly where you mean - I presume you mean on the OUTSIDE of the throttle body (not inside, where the butterfly valve is)? Will I need to take the air box off to access the screw? When you said "Mac" screw, did you mean MAF...

    Idle Observations about Idle

Thanks for the tips Marc. In your first post you said you had a coil pack K11, but I've just noticed that you mentioned an idle screw - the coil pack K11's don't have an idle adjust screw do they? I know the distributor K11's do - but as far as I know, there is no simple way to manually adjust...

    Idle Observations about Idle

Marc - my coilpack K11 idles OK at about 750-800 RPM - the problem is the car doesn't want to idle at that speed - if you take your foot off the gas, the idle will drop to about 500 RPM and then die. How did you manage to get the IAC valve off to clean it? It's in a terrible position to access...

    Cleaning/Replacing MAF Sensor

I think the rear sensor is just there to monitor the health of the CAT - it wouldn't have any effect on performance, or MPG - the front sensor does all the important stuff.

Cool - are they exactly the same though?

    Cleaning/Replacing MAF Sensor

I cleaned the error codes with the scanner. Same thing I think - but clearing the codes isn't going to fix the problem. I didn't have a fault code showing for the O2 sensor - but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem, it could be just below the threshold for triggering a code. I've...

    Cleaning/Replacing MAF Sensor

Yes, I've got a multimeter, so I can take some readings on the O2 sensor - just not sure how to go about it, what values I'm looking for and what it'll tell me. Bottom line - any way of knowing for sure that the sensor is duff, before I spring for a new one?

    Cleaning/Replacing MAF Sensor

Update: Just got an OBD2 scanner - and it's showing me running rich, with a long term fuel trim of around -15% It was also showing P0100, P0110 and P0120 codes - all relating to the MAF and TPS - but as I have recently disconnected the MAF and TPS as part of the diagnostic process, I can't...

Hi from a fellow Micra owner

No, but I've seen enough of it on various travel programmes to know it's my kind of place. I couldn't live in some stinking hot tropical tax haven, but Guernsey would suit me fine.

Hi from a fellow Micra owner

I'll second that - K11's everywhere, plenty of sunshine and 20% income tax - doesn't get much better than that. If it wasn't so expensive to buy a house I would have moved there years ago.
