    PAO Emissions. . . Yikes!

I'm surprised you need to pass an emissions test. Here in Illinois I don't have to. Since the car was never imported to the states how does Arizona know what the limit should be? Maybe you need to talk to someone else at your registration office?

    Radiator Slimline Fan Adventures

Brad, Are you sure your old fan is bad? How do you know it's not just the temperature sensor? Did you try testing the fan by seeing if it comes on when the a/c is on? Not sure about the Pao, but on a lot of cars the fan will bypass the sensor and run continuously when the a/c is on.

    rear window shocks

I sent mine to LS Technologies in Saskatoon, Canada. They attached new struts to my existing brackets. They look almost identical to the originals. They were $40 each + shipping. The pic below shows the original shock on the bottom and a rebuilt one on top. This was a really worthwhile thing to...

    Wobbly needle

I drove my Pao today and the needle doesn't wobble.

    Judder when Idle

Since the Pao has a carburetor the correct starting procedure when the engine is cold should be to press the gas pedal to the floor, let off the pedal and turn the key. This will fully or partly close the choke (close the air supply) on the carb (based upon the air temp outside) for a richer air...

I don't believe mine wobbles. I'll take a look next time I drive it.

    There's one on U.S. ebay.

    North American PAO owners

I think there are a lot more than 4 U.S. owners. Not sure why more people don't post on here. My dash beeps at 66 mph, so my top speed is 65 mph. Haven't check mileage yet. The front of my Pao is very bouncy, so I suppose it needs new shocks, but the bounce is kinda fun so I'm in no rush to...

    Greetings from Arizona!

Seems safer and easier to buy one that's already been imported. There's one on ebay right now and it's the more desirable 5-speed. The importer I bought mine from has around 3 more, but not sure if all 3 are in this country yet. He's close by in Vegas. If you're interested I can get you his...

    Beeping sound in reverse

When I put my automatic Pao in reverse the car makes a beeping noise. It seems to come from the dash. Does anyone else's Pao have this feature? How do I disable it? It's tremendously irritating. Thanks, Mark

    North American PAO owners

Mark, Chicago, 1989, automatic, 11/15, aqua gray, 96,000 km, folding roof, no mods, appears to be factory stock, except the seats are vinyl/leather so they may not be original. Right now I need to replace the timing belt/water pump. I was going to try to do this myself, but now I'm thinking...

    rear window shocks

It doesn't appear the Pao rear window struts are available anywhere. It looks like I'll have to order some generic struts, drill out the brackets and reattach them to the new struts. Has anyone done this? What kind of hardware did you use to reattach the brackets?

Hello, The shocks on my rear window no longer hold the glass up. Anyone know where I can get replacements? Thanks, Mark

    Ignition timing

My '89 Micra Service Manual from Nissan says 10 degrees +-2 degrees BTDC at idle speed and since my timing marks only show a "0" and a "10" this must be right. I'll have to check my Pao one of these days.

    Ignition timing

I have stickers under my hood, but I don't know how to read Japanese. One sticker says 15 degrees BTDC at 750 or 850 rpms. Another sticker says 2 degrees ATDC. I can't read the Japanese so I don't know what the 2 degrees is referring to. I would imagine once your close using a timing light...

    Battery Light on Solid

Terry, I'm not a mechanic, but ...if your mechanic had not already looked at it I'd say place a battery tester on the battery and with the engine off it should read around 12.6 volts. Then start the motor and check again and it should read around 14 volts (I don't know the precise number for...

    Hello from Wisconsin, USA

I can't help you. Perhaps someone else on here can. I purchased mine a few weeks ago after all the paperwork had been completed by the importer. So for me it was no different than buying any other car.

    oil filter warning

Driveworks DW-4460. The thread size is listed online as M20 x 1.5. Your Napa one is listed at 3/4 x 16. 3/4" = 19mm, so that would explain why the 20 mm filter spun itself off. Next time I'll get a 3/4 x 16 one or just get one from amayama in Japan. Have you used this supplier? I actually...
