Usual questions on my mind. I am assuming that the cat is the biggest restriction, so has anyone seen a good de-cat pipe, or will I need to buy a whole 4-2-1 manifold? Or is there a compromise cast manifold I could get from a breaker's? MTIA for clues :-)

Standard Micra wheels are a bit lightweight if you have potholes and they can distort. So check if you buy stanfard wheels. VW wheels are stronger/heavier won't fit without opening up the centre hole.

I already see it has 4 coils and no distributor. The 1.3i must have been ill, because the 1.0 feels just as nippy and holds its speed better cruising around 60-70 in top gear. :-)

Beware of high speed detonation. You can't usually hear it, unlike mid-range 'pinking'. A dyno set-up for timing at high revs doesn't take long or cost much and it can save you a set of pistons, or more!

I see your point. I always used to strip and fettle brakes the hard way. But discs get thinner and they aren't v expensive. And they start to warp if they are worked hard. Corrosion gets behind the dust seals and squashes the dust seals into the pistons, or just gets into the gap and makes...
