if its a thule locking roof rack , and if its locked , yes you will need the key , to un lock and fit it . if its not locked then you can still use it. which type is it ?

i have this same problem with my 09 , car , when i took it back to the dealer they wouldnt look at it because it didnt go wrong in front of them . dealers eh !!!!!!
