    ma10 and ma12 compatable

There is no difference in combustion chamber shape or volume between the MA10 or MA12 heads Compression adjustment is made via the size of the bowl in the piston. There is one bowl size fot the MA12, 2 for the MA10 The heads are not the same within the port areas, in all aspects they are...

    Head and flywheel

Get the two side by side then you'll see! The inlet tract on the MA10 is awful. The two types of MA12 both give a decent shot straight at the valve (without turning a 90 degree bend!

    Head and flywheel

Hi there. Thanks for the recommendation. The MA10 head needs to make its way quickly to the scrap bin. The MA12 head is far better and a straight fit. The earlier 31B castings are OK but the later cat model, 18B are probably better still. MA10 flywheels are lighter, MA10 fron pulleys...

    Micra K10 Questions

I build more MA12 engines than pretty well anybody - including for bobsp16. Maybe the Ryan asking the question is Ryan Jones who sent me an e-mail? 100 thou is too much to take off an MA12 head - fact Autograss engines may not use modified cams. All fuel/air has to pass through a 32mm...

    Head gaskets

Heads are different but interchangeable. Gaskets are not interchangeable. Use an MA12 head on an MA10 ok but use an MA10 head gasket

    Headbolts

Further to the above - I would suggest that fitting 2 head gaskets is a bodge that's likely to fail quickly! they are not the best of things when theres only one fitted! If you need lower comprssion then do something with the pistons - or even the head.

    Headbolts

The bolts are re-usable on the K10. Many of the older Japanese engines, from all marques didn't use stretch bolts. K11 uses stretch bolts. I didn't know ARP did a replacement bolt for the K10 (in any area) do you have a link? In which area did Nissan "over-engineer" the K10 engine? In my...

The cons of a lightened fly wheel

I will if I get chance. Keep hearing about the forum from customers and was prompted today to join. Someone with a March had picked my name up from somewhere on here and rang for a bit of advice.] See my site (never up to date tho'!): www.dw-engineservices.co.uk :p

The cons of a lightened fly wheel

..... and as one of the most prolific K10 Micra engine builders in the Uk, I've balanced dozens of Micra flywheels and used hundreds of secondhand flywheel bolts and have yet to suffer a failure (not wishing to tempt.....)

The cons of a lightened fly wheel

Ah, my first post on the forum  BTW, you don't need new flywheel bolts on a K10 or K11 Micra - fact Oh and the flywheel pictured (obviously not a Micra flywheel) has not got a "steel band shrunk onto it" - it is a billet steel flywheel. There is no problem whatsoever in...
