    Consult cable

That's a fairly simple circuit - it's quite similar to mine. However, I've had some noise issues on the input of mine (from the car to the PC), so I want to do a bit of work getting that sorted before I post any more info about the hardware. Any ideas of what would be good in this app...

Just thought I'd share with you the progress in my ECU monitor application. I got things to work on the PC, and had a play around with an old WinCE2.11 pocket PC that I have. In the end, I thought it would be easier to step through my iPaq (which is Windows Mobile 2003 SE), so I've developed...

Cheers for the HICAS info - a mate of mine used to have a 300ZX and told me about the rear steering, but I didn't know that was the HICAS thing. Pete - thanks for the info. It's pretty much what I've got from the PLMS website (there's a protocol doc and a list of registers that you can...

Cheers pete. Think I've got it licked now, but do you have any protocol information? I've got a fair amount and things are working, but I want to make sure I catch odd situations (e.g. unsupported commands etc), and I'm not sure what the ECU will throw back at me. I've just written a bit of...

    How many miles per tank?

Yep - my job is kewl! And incidentally I have a CVT gearbox, so maybe that's where the extra efficiency comes from. I'm suprised I get a bit more than everyone else though, as I do kane it a bit on the motorway!

    How many miles per tank?

I drive mine the same journey every weekday - 75 miles motorway in the morning and 75 miles back in the evening. I fill up every 2 days, with about £27 (at about 87p per litre) - so that's about 300 miles from 31litres, so a 42l tank should give me just about 400 - although I think 360-370 is...

Look, just to clear things up. I'm NOT INTERESTED IN MAKING ANY PROFIT AT ALL FROM WHAT I'M DOING HERE! I just want to get it up and running for myself, and if I can help anyone else out there then cool. Right, rant over with! The circuit can be split into 3 parts: power supply, clock...

Right, knocked up a quick and very simple design (using MAX232A, EXO-3 as clock generator and one transistor to level shift for tx to the car). And it works! I've tested with the Conzult free software and things work OK, but my intention with this was to write some software for an old...

    Sub/Amp kit?

Wire it to the AMP REM wire - this is the Amp Remote control (to power the amp when the HU is on). The other one is an attenuation control which mutes the audio when a car phone kit is installed and the phone rings. Let us know how it sounds when you've got it all up and running!

    Replacing the Ariel

Has anyone replaced the ariel on a K11? I've got an amplified DAB/FM antenna to stick on my car, and I just wondered if anyone can offer advice about getting the old one out and wiring the new one... Cheers

My thoughts about it were something like this: (a) the circuits available on the web have restriction such that you can't make money out of the end product. Having said that, I think there are a couple of flaws with the circuits so I was going to design something else anyway... (b) I...

Cheers for the link for the connector - I was going to build a new cable onto the old one with a more standard connector (d-type or something). ... Actually, I've just had a look and they're $18 plus postage - I think I still will add a new cable on!!! The problem with all these...

I've been having a look on the net and I found the PLMS stuff - it's good 'cause they give the protocol and schematics for their adapter. Might nip down to Maplins this afternoon and get the parts so I can build one myself...

Does anyone know where to get hold a cable to connect a PC to the Consult connector in my K11? Also, what information can I get out of it? Cheers

    CVT ATF replacement

I think with the drain method you can only change what's in the "sump" of the gearbox, which in my case was a little under 2 litres. I've read bits about siphoning the oil out from the top, in which case you get most of it out it seems. However, I was a little concerned about this method, so...

    CVT ATF replacement

I drained about 200ml of fluid after reading this - 2 minute job (you need a 17mm spanner and a cup to catch the fluid in!) Fluid was Dexron III from Halfords: 1 litre was £7. I bought 4 litres as the capacity of the box, filter etc is 4.2 litres and wasn't sure how much I'd have to change -...

Earth location for under seat amp install

Cheers all. To be honest, I hadn't thought of drilling a hole and putting my own bolt through - but I think I'll go this way as it gives me the most flexibility and tidyness. I couldn't use the seat mounts for 2 reasons - (a) the bolts are too big for the ring on the end of the wire and...
