u cud try cleaning the carburettor with some cleaning spray. I done it and the car idled much lower than before. This on its own wont fix the problem but it will help.

^^ to get more power. And it would sound louder. Weapon R filters are very loud as they have velocity stacks. My bro has 1 on his starlet. Sounds wicked. Google em'.

^^ it would definentley give better gains that just sticking a k&n ontop of the carb. A pipe made going towards the left of the engine with a k&n would be much better. A cold air feed would ensure cold air is getting to the carb:)) A k&n directley ontop of the carb probably gets heat soak aswell.

You can get some turbo insulation that reduces lag by 500 rpm apparentley. I read it in redline magazine. Also helps alot with under bonnet temps. As we all know turbos produced alot of heat http://www.nimbusmotorsport.com/ProdShop2.asp?id=663&CATID=282
