Defenitely sounds like a worn ignition switch, seen it before on everything from a small car to a 57 seat coach - would advise you to buy a new one fron dealer cos a s/hand part could be as bad if not now in the near future

    Steering problem

I suppose all that road building in the south helps too, unless you are in north donegal. We north of the border look like we are still learning to build roads, and not with great success. Did you buy the car new, or is it possible it has been damaged at a time and repaired? Also are you...

Yep and the dci diesel engines I am 99.9% sure are the same as in the clio/migrane, they use the same brake pads/discs, and if you delve into the electronics, are most likely renault stock items

    Where to get Replacement Key

If the keys are cut from the original key number code, you have to remember your locks have a bit of wear and therefore they may need time to bed in to the locks If they are cut from the profile of the worn key, (1) you are at the mercy of the person cutting them - do they actually care if...

    burning smell

Yeah, andyseadog is correct, I've also seen this happen with Pugs & Citroens, and on various Toyota/Nissan/honda cars, where the owners have spent the bare minimum in servicing the brakes/tyres. ffs Buy the cheapest and you recieve inferior quality, There was a saying by Honda a few years...

    burning smell

Jack your car up and spin the wheel, if it's hard to turn or stops spinning fairly quickly, then you have a binding issue which means a partially seized caliper. this will probably mean you may have a warped brake disc also Change the caliper and disc if this is the problem.

about to buy a K12 for my girlfriend - ADVICE ??

avoid the early k12 models - 03-mid 05 unless the owner or dealer can prove the timing chain has been recently been replaced. These have a habit of stretching before renault, sorry i mean nissan became aware (so they say) of the diabolical quality of the materials, and changed the spec Have a...

    Steering problem

did you get the wheel geometry checked by 4 wheel laser alignment? some garages just do the old fashioned tracking by the front wheels only. My golf had been in a kerbing incident and it took four visits to different dealers/tyre fitters to eventually find that the tracking looked fine, but...

    help!!!! micra k12 camshaft fault!!

Yep, Frank's right! Our Anne-Maries car had only 22k on the clock when the "paper chain" caused a estimated bill of over £1000 with the "local" nissan stealer. Apparently nissan caught this on late in 05, then changed the material in the chains, so the early k12's from 03-mid 05 are plagued...

    Brakes, help!!!!!!

You mad #######! and people wonder why there are accidents. Now if the leak is inside the drum you'll need new brake shoes, the inside of the drums will require to be absolutely spotless or the new linings will get contaminated and therefore as useless

    new keys

I take it your car does not have NATS so the local keycutter in the market should be able to supply a standard blank. Also invest in an aerosol of lock grease and lubricate the locks!!!!!!!
