I never use a torque wrench! I just know when something's tight, the only time I use them is when the torque has to be right like head studs Wheel nuts can be as tight as you can providing you don't snap them but a good mechanic can feel when they are tight enough anyway

Pull harder? I've never unbolted the struts and droped the axle, just twist it and pull, if it's just going in the bin and being replaced just cut it off if your really struggling

Is the grey red wire not the hand brake wire? If its not wired in it'll think the hand brake is off and won't run

Wiring a live to an earth then bodging a fuse with foil so it doesn't blow would do some damage, a loose live striking earths with loose fibre around could catch alight also
