K11, Fitting rear shocks/springs: how do you get the axle to drop / spring out?

Cheers for the pointer Frank, I did see the thread with the bush/grind/wafer-thin/chisel method mentioned... someone else said Stilsons and heat... was wondering if those were just last resorts and there was a normal way. The grinding method sounds good. But, anyway, I couldn't really figure...

K11, Fitting rear shocks/springs: how do you get the axle to drop / spring out?

Har de har, lol... I did get the shocks out, but the axle didn't drop enough... scissor jack pushed it down enough, nice one Frank Right, next stumbling block: removing the stock panhard rod... The left/chassis side I've got the nut off and the bolt is sort of halfway out, I can hammer-tap it...

Sounds like a plan Frank, I do have the factory issue scissor jack to have a go :)

K11, Fitting rear shocks/springs: how do you get the axle to drop / spring out?

I'm in the middle of swapping out the shocks and springs to Corsa Bs and HOL 60mm. I've got the right side shock out and not really sure how to get the spring out? If I press down on the axle/hub it springs back up? I'm going to take the left shock out and see if the axle drops any more. I...

    Lowering springs (front+rear) 50-60mm

I've got a '96 K11 1.0 and finally got around to fitting a KYB Excel-G suspension kit that I bought second hand on eBay. It was advertised with 40mm lowering springs but turns out they are just OE-spec stock height (I guess just the regular ones that come with the KYB kit?) Anyway, after...

K12 Micra Wipers and Washer pump problem

I realise this is necro-posting/reviving, but Tom-P10's suggestion to take the pump apart and grease it did the trick for me. For posterity, I've taken a photo of the old pump and new pump in an exploded view so you can see how it is comprised. The old pump was fitted by a local garage and for...

White connector (passenger footwell) wiring matching?

On further inspection, some other wires are different, like there's no orange wire to the Alt S fuse socket... so I'm gonna reconnect the plug to the old loom, and frankenstein the fuse box / terminals to end up with a non-melted one on the old loom

White connector (passenger footwell) wiring matching?

The L/H headlight fuse socket has got worse and worse and is beyond cleaning up, melted pretty bad. I scavenged the fuse/relay boxes and wiring loom from an R-reg K11 (mine is N-reg), and they appeared to be the same (another R-reg in the yard was different somehow, can't remember now, possibly...

    F/S Adjustable Panhard Rod

@Noddie I'm a bit of a novice so replacing the suspension will most likely be a whole weekend job, especially since the cars fairly rusted so bolts/nuts are a pain. @Kamarley, haha, she's a silver jeweller so it's pretty normal, but she's defo not be best pleased if I used her precision torch...

MIG welding: any danger to ECU, head-unit, etc?

So I've replaced my cross member (bolted in) and am still yet to weld it in place. After a week or so of research, I'm fairly set on getting a welder in the 150-160 Amp range using refillable gas. One of the welding guides I came across said that disconnecting the battery terminals wasn't...

    Looking at buying a K11 as a daily. I'm 6'2", will I fit comfortably?

6'1" and I have long legs like 34" or 35" inside leg. With the seat all the way back, it's alright with the stock steering wheel. I got a HKB boss and deep dish wheel off eBay which is a smaller diameter, which lets me set the steering column to the low position (instead of highest for stock...

    Wanted: K11 lower radiator brackets

I replaced the cross member today on my '96 K11 and the radiator brackets on the bottom are rusted, welded over and I think one of the bolt holes has been welded through. Not looking very promising to salvage mine (they look like **** basically lol), so looking to get some in decent condition...
