    the purple hobbit

Good to hear you got it fixed, but if it HAD snapped, would it really have damaged the engine? I thought that the design meant that a snapped chain did no engine damage?

sounding like a transit or black cab

I've fixed mine too. I serviced it at the weekend, and found there was a rusted jubilee clip rattling around the exhaust!

sounding like a transit or black cab

I think mine sounds similar when I start it up, like a diesel. I'm servicing it hopefully this weekend, and I'm going to check the heat-shields as I think one of those is loose, although I think that's causing a different rattle and not the diesel sound!

    Front wiper motor

Sorry I can't be of help, but rather than try to fix my wiper motor myself I bought a replacement for £18 off ebay.

    Dodgy Gearbox

I have trouble getting mine into 2nd, usually first thing when I start driving. I'm hoping to service it this weekend, so when it's up on ramps I'm going to inspect the gear selector linkage, as I've posted about this problem before and was told it could be a universal joint. You can't adjust...

12k miles Shopping car to something interesting...

Yeah, the inside of my boot lid really rattles, I need to sort that too. I have loads of builders flashing tape left which I sound proofed my Fiat Coupe with. It's pretty cheap from B&Q compared to Dynamat etc. But, it needs to go behind a panel, so although I can do my front doors with it...

12k miles Shopping car to something interesting...

Did you fit a strut brace in the end? I'm considering one if it stops roll. I don't want to make the ride harsher though, I like the way the Micra feels over poor quality roads and wouldn't want a bumpier ride. Have you mounted your 6x9s into the standard parcel shelf? I have some Alpines to...

    Fuel / mileage

Just got 310 and then the light came on, did another 30 before filling up although I'm not sure how much you get on reserve!

    Uprated horns

I've been looking at replacement horns on ebay for my K11, as I feel the standard ones are a little on the weak side. There are a few different ones listed, most are listed as 'snail style' upgrades. Has anyone fitted these, or another type to improve the sound?

My New K11 but requires attention to the crossmember- Help

My V reg has a rusting crossmember, so much so that the fixing point in the front middle that holds the bonnet catch bracket on has come apart. I had an MOT 2 weeks ago and it passed, with an advisory of a corroded crossmember. There is a guide on the site on how to replace the crossmember but...

    Nice one, cheers!

    Fitting a boot release catch

Okay, last question! What tools are needed to remove it, just so I take over everything I need and don't get partway through and am missing a particular tool.

    Fitting a boot release catch

Cool. How long did it take to remove? I might pop over to the breakers in my lunch-break if doesn't take too long.

    Performance micra air filter ------------

Do Apexi do one? I have an Apexi cone on my other car, it's better due to not needing to be oiled which can cause problems with the MAF sensor.

    Fitting a boot release catch

My K11 already has a petrol cap release lever to the right of the drivers seat. I've found a K11 breaking that has both the petrol cap and boot release lever. How much work is involved in getting the parts out of the breaking K11 and fitting to mine?

    Failed MOT!

I am extremely happy. My Micra failed the first MOT I've put it through since buying it in October. Although I'd checked it over, I wasn't sure if the tester would find something to fail it on, such the rusty front crossmember. I explained to him beforehand that it shouldn't be a failure as...

Guess the insurance, you will not be

I think a part of it iss the driver you are insuring rather than just the car. Ift doesn't matter if a 17 year old is insured on a Micra or something sporty, if they smash into the back of a classic Ferrari the payout is still going to be big. Good new though, looks like I'll be going with...
