sounds like my story , started with a 1 litre as a stop gap, that got a 1.6 16v conversion ,sold that, got a 1.3 Si and in the process of fitting an sr20de to it

just to add to this the turbo is basically a two way pump, the harder the engine works the more exhaust gases are produced and the turbine in the turbo sucks the gases out of the engine whilst sucking in more air to fuel the combustion process quicker
