I took White Knight in to my old mechanic to get the head gasket done (well I'm assuming it's *just* the head gasket). They just called me back to tell me they don't feel confident enough to pull it all apart and be able to put it back together again :P So, I'm looking for a recommendation for...

i don't think it could have been from not bleeding the system properly, because when I changed the reservoir and refilled the coolant, i never started the car (the starter was out of the car being fixed)....the coolant just disappeared (into the engine it seems). There are no bleed nipples...

Clutch was going before I got it. I remember posting saying it would slip under hard acceleration. People told me it couldn't be slipping, but it was. Part of the problem there was that none of us had driven a car with a button clutch like this one had. The on/off nature of it just didn't suit...

Dunno about the gearbox, but apparently the starter is off a pulsar.

the day I knew would come has come. Head gasket is gone. Oil was fine this morning when I checked it. This evening, micra king checked the oil and it was just like a chocolate milkshake. Will try find a place to tow it to on monday :(

All i've done is had the starter motor reconditioned, replaced the overflow reservoir, and filled up with more coolant. Now my engine is idling really rough. Any driving under 2k rpm is jerky as hell. Ideas?

Well, the starter is all good now. But i'm still not able to start the car properly. It appears the way the starter is mounted, it doesn't allow the pinion to reach the ring gear enough. I am going to have to look for someone to measure it up and manufacture a new mount to allow better gear...

mmmkay? Care to explain what's involved in bleeding the cooling system properly? I have no idea sorry!

I've just replaced the radiator overflow reservoir with a brand new one. Filled the radiator and reservoir with coolant last night. Today I have a look, and my reservoir is near empty! No signs of leaking from the reservoir. Can't see any sign of leaking under the car. Where did it all go??

if you look on the starter motor shaft, you can see how far the pinion was coming out by the wear. I'm hoping that was the problem. I just got word from my mechanic who said the guy looking at the starter lubed it up and couldn't fault it. Supposedly, it is coming "all the way out" now...

Been having problems starting White Knight for a while now. It'd make this grinding noise which the everyone first said was the ring gear. After having the ring gear looked at during the clutch replacement it was decided that while worn, the ring gear should still function ok. So, by process...

it is kinda expensive, but it needed to be done....now. Well, I guess it didn't really considering the car isn't starting at the moment :P But it's one less thing I have to worry about now. I was going through coolant like nobodys business.

Ok, I'm clutching at straws here....but does anyone know where the starter motor came from in White Knight? I have to replace it cos I think the solenoid is not working properly.

Fixed the problem. micra_king found (another) loose wire. I had it tested thanks to another friend and it was showing voltage. Took it back to the people that did the clutch and they knew where it went (to the starter motor). Had a blast driving White Knight this evening....until the starter...
