I will jack it up tomorrow and have a good poke around. I also get a metal clanging noise when rattling gear lever in neutral so need to see what that is too.

    Squeaky noise from rear.

I thought about that and gave the back box a good pull but cant make it squeak at all. Spayed em with solicon spray lube too. Thought it may have been the springs or shocks but not sure. My wife had a 200 reg micra from new and sold it in 2007 and that developed the same squeak too. Roads are...

    Squeaky noise from rear.

Anyone else get a squeaky noise when going over uneven roads(most in uk !). I have tried everything to get rid of it as its annoying. I thought it was door rubbers so silicon greased em all up but still there. Is it some sort of rubber bush on the suspension? Also are the stretch to fit...

Guess the insurance, you will not be

I dont remember it ever being so expensive when i was 17. I drove a few 2 seater sports cars before i was 21 too. Robbing gits. I am 40 now so not a problem for me and I have no points and never had an accident since I passed my test in 1988. I just paid £131 fully comp for my standard 1.0L:wasntme:

Thanks for that. No power steering on mine and deffo no movement so not completely shot yet. But since its not a tough job and I am gonna do everything else needed I may as well do it as since its only got 31k on clock I intend keeping her for as long as I can.

Thanks I will take a look. Though I may as well just replace it before mot. I do need to look into mpg too as its not doing what I think it should at the moment. I may check the throttle body solder job when I give it a full service.

Even with the current rust? Though its not completely shot and still feels solid. I may risk an mot then as its a friend of the familys garage and though he would not pass a car that is obviously dodgy he would not rip me off either.

I will have to see how it looks when I get round to doing it I suppose. I thought maybe grinding it away. Did you just get your chisel behind it?

Just a final question. Would it be neater to angle grind the spot welds or will it only come off with drilling the welds? Thanks for all the pointers and links too(Y)

Ah right. Did it pass an mot without the welds ok? I guess they never even notice the lack of em at most garages anyhow.

Ok thanks. It looks like a job for a nice sunny day and I have till end of april for mot so plenty of time. I am sure bolts will be fine though as maybe they were welded as it was easier on the production line.

Cool, thanks for that its very helpful. Do you just leave the car on its wheels or on stands and does the engine need supporting at all? I may just drill and do more bolts if it will pass an mot.

I had a metal rattling when changing gear so had a look under the car today. Looks like the exhaust sheild rattling. I then had a good look at the cross member and it is rotting at the front passenger corner just under a plastic cover. Not sure if it will fail an mot as not completely gone...

    brighter interior light?

Dunno which is why I went for the one I did which is just as easy to fit as it comes with a spring loaded festoon fitment with a wire. Not arrived yet but will be a simple fit and it has to be brighter than the naff one it has at the moment.

    brighter interior light?

Loads on ebay or try dealextreme. You need a 40 - 44mm festoon fitting or you can solder the wires on to the fitting if you get a flat smd led type which is what I ordered for £3.20 delivered. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.18061

Did K11's come with a locking petrol cap?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230568596992 Genuine original one. I got one as mine was missing when I bought the car a few weeks ago. It clicks when in tight enough and sits in the little holder perfect thats on the flap(Y) Not locking but it is the right one.
