    wiper arm and wiper sizes

bit confused at the moment , my facelift has a 19" and 16" ( measured ) wipers on it , but all the cats are telling me 20" and 18" ,but it looks a very close fit at the moment . Do the described lengths of the wipers tend to be optimistic ? Also one wiper arm is longer than the other , can any...

    Gearbox fluid

check out the EPX bit first , I think it stands for Extreme and involves the use of additives that can attack certain metals in a gearbox , it was not recommended for use in a Fiat I had for that reason . for example :- http://www.fiatforum.com/x1-9/182923-gear-oil.html

    cable driven speedo

may of found the problem , the piece of plastie card that has the lettering on it had expanded in the heat and was catching the blunt end of the needle when it was in the 10 11 and 12 o'clock positions, loosened the mounting srews and held it flat whilst they got re tightened and also put in a...

brake problems can any one help

yep as Franks says ..with the engine off , you can pump the brakes till they go hard , keep the pressure on the brake peddle and then turn on the engine , the peddle should drop a bit , confirming the servo works ... sounds like you still have air in the system ..

    maf

does the MAF need to be on the TB , I have seen cars with it on the air supply hose a couple of feet away from the TB , I ge the impression as long as the diameter of the hose is correct at the MAF mounting point it should be ok ????? . It would make sense for making them last longer , cooler ...

brake problems can any one help

watch out for the load limiting valve at the back , it only kicks in and lets the brake fluid throu when the back is loaded down with weight. . The haynes manual suggests bleeding the brakes in the following order .. left hand rear right hand front right hand rear left hand front you may need...

    STUPID ELECTRONICS!!!

you should see 12v on the wires on the back of the door switch , this will be via the bulb , if not , work your way back to the light assembly , does it switch on at the light switch , that would prove it has power and a good bulb . I have had cases in the past were the door switch does not...

    K11 1.0L 1998 gets flooded too often

2 wires on the sensor , wire the resistor across them , ie one leg of the resistor to each wire ... that will put the resistor in parallel with the sensor .

    K11 1.0L 1998 gets flooded too often

had a look at this out of interest as my cars have shown this tendency to flood if I just move them around on the drive .. and a lot of cranking to get then going . The coolant sensor has 2 wires going to it , so Nissan have retrofitted a 15kohm ( 15,000 ohms ) resistor across the terminals of...

    weight reduction

a "engineers' decision" normally making calculated and educated guess at how a part can be reliably and cheaply made to safely do a certain job . If its cheaper to leave excess material on a drum or bracket then that will happen . It would be interesting to see what the weight reduction does to...

Need help with the optical sensor

does the optical sensor need 5V ? , the Bosch MAF is made to run off a 12v supply but has a signal output in the range of 2 to 5v , with a output signal of 0v or 12v being a fault condition which is recognised by the ECU .

Need help with the optical sensor

    guess on 15 to 25mA for starters , so you need to drop from 14 t 5 volts , thats 9v / .025 = 360 ohms , 9v /.015 = 600 ohms , so try a preferred value of 560 ohm first . or try building a regulator circuit using a 7805 type device . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/78xx regards
