I have just found the car was supplied by the garage that supplied my Micra . I will find out its history when I take my daughters micra in soon . Dont worry about it ,the guy loves his Micra's and I am sure it will be reborn !!!

I agree , if the engine is quiet once warmed up there is nothing to worry about . mine has a good chain rattle at start up and ticks and chunners till its hot .. and I have just ragged it round the Welsh Snowdon passes for 2 days with no problems !!!

interestedly it may be worth putting a bit of oil on the ball pivot at the bottom of the gear stick ... just lift the gaiter and put a drop on .. it made a lot of difference to my shift .

most garages will have delivery arrangements with local parts suppliers . my local garage gets morning and mid day deliveries off one firm , and has a supplier just around the corner ,,, as well as a barn full of Micra's !!!! so if they know what job is coming in they can be prepared with parts...

my trick with a car alarm was to fit it under the boot area , as most people would would lift the hood quick and pull the wires off ..now a days I just lock the drivers seat headrest to the steering wheel with a cycle lock

I would fit the pump and thermostat first and check all is watertight again . Do the plugs and check the car runs ok with them . fit the filter and leads , keep the new dizzy safe whilst you suss out any problems that could mess up the new TB . Do the dizzy and again check the car still runs...

daughter has a old N reg for her first car , chain is noisy , just as it was some 10 months ago , garage says is easier and cheaper to just throw in another engine if it does go ... the chain in mine slaps at startup (2000 facelift built in UK ) ... and the wifes ( pre facelift built in Japan )...

I would of considered putting the scoop above the TB , if only to help cool the TB electronics down and improve reliability . I dig the eyelids ..cool

not done it today !!!! just been out for a run with the car loaded up , 3 adults , a child and stuff in the boot ...and it was ok ?? normally does it with just the driver ??? will check out the drive shafts etc this week thanks for the comments

but what gets me is it only happens in 2nd gear !!! I have tried holding 1st for a while ... no shimmer , just like 3rd and 4th ... and not when cornering ... I will drive it a bit longer and see what develops !!

Frank , would I expect any noise with a dodgy cv ? both the drive shafts have a little bit of end float so they are not pushing against the engine , and they seem to be secure ..

car is a 1 litre facelift . strange one this , when accelerating in 2nd gear the front of the car shimmers slightly side to side , only does it when going straight , the steering is fine . has done it with 2 sets of wheels , tracking seems ok , nothing looks out of place , but has done it since...

I think the coolant tubing to the TB is to warm up the TB on start up , this is so that the air/fuel mix's better and reduces emissions . My car started off with a heated TB ..now has a older unheated tb with no noticeable driving differences and some blocked off pipes !!! I agree the heat...

I have just got some Aero VU flat wiper blades off Amazon , about £11 delivered , they look good ... are they worth a try on your car ????
