Thanks for the help. Yeah, I don't like chrome like that, I have found a guy who has done it but he has ground down the small 90° lip. Just wondering if I would have to do that

Going back to your grill (sorry) is it 100% necessary to grind down the 90° lip? Would the type of door protector you used fit on the edge if you don't bring it down?
