    4 stud to 5 stud

I've seen it done for a 5 to 4 stud conversion for fitting Manta wheels to a Rover SD1. What you need it do is get a set of new studs from you friendly Nissan dealer. You will need 20 (4x5) although I would get a few spares. The look like bolts but with a flattened head like a nail instead of...

Simple questions, need answers. Sorry :)

Rally cars are supposd to be road legal (MOT Tax Insurance etc) and teh MSA nise regulations for Rally cars are lower than the law requires so Group A or N exhaust is Road legal - Except when i comes to emisisons. If there is no CAT in the system then it is almost certain it won't be legal...

    help to get more torque

If you want acceleration then either try and fina Challenge final drive (these are straight cut so can be noisey) or go the whole hog and get a close ratio box. Expensive. Max speed about 85 mph. Very quick 0-60. And will kill your mpg. Available from Harry Hockley and if anyone wants to buy me...

    choping lowering springs?

I've never heard that cutting a spring makes it weaker. A shortened spring is stiffer - takes a greater force to compress it by the same amount. Usually measured in ilbs per inch if you are my age! It will obviously be shorter (that's the whole point) and you risk it falling out of the spring...

FAO people who have increased BHP

Cheaper option than Janspeed is to contact Harvey. Harvey is retired and does the odd exhaust, Micra ones are a speciality. He has a track record, I heard about him from someone who grasstracks a Micra. But be warned, mine was the first one he did with a Lambda sensor as the grasstrack people...

    rant and rave

Remember just ;cos there is no oil on the dipstick doesn't mean there is no oil in the engine. It could be so low it doesn't register. You don't say if the engine stopped, so it could be that If I were you I would either top it up and see if it OK, or drain it to see how much was in it...

    options for manifolds

You need to speak to Harvey. Harvey is retired and lives in mid wales (near Aberystwyth) and used to have a company making exhausts for competition vehicles of all types (F1 upwards). I heard about him from a grasstrack racer. He has made several for Micras, but he probably hasn't made one...

    Battery Dead

I wouold try taking it to an auto electrician. Someone who does nothing else but auto electrics. Even then ask around as there are always some who are better than others. The other thing to remeber is that you will not charge a flat battery with an alternator. I know it sounds odd, and I...

Anyone Heard of Morris Lubricant (engine oil)???!!!??

I used to use Morris's Gold Film Oil in my 2 Stroke SAAB. Most people at the time would only use SAAB s stroke oil or Morris's which I think says something for their reputation. (At least for 2 strokes). I must admit I have never seen their engine oil anywhere.

Modifying Floor Pan / Low Seat Mounting

You don't want to fit as side mount direct to the floor unless you wantto do a serious amount of strengthening. The floor just isn't stong enough and will flex, and in accident just rip out! The standard way if doing it in a rally car is to weld 2 tubes between the tunnel and the sill, a...

    Fitting the coilovers

If you plan on removing the top the top mount from the strut get a pair of coil spring compressors . You can then take the strut off complete, use the spring compressors to take the pressare off the top mount, undo the big nut safeley and then undo the spring compresors to release the spring...

    The "I" word... Insurance

Sorry Arnold I disagree. Tell teh insurance company and let them decide. That way if the smelly brown stuff hits the whirling object they can't get out of it. I always tell tehm everything (Except Competition Car Insurance - they don't want to know, but that is for rally cars.) I have had...

Modifiying my K11 1.0L for future rallying

I've been involved in rallying for fr to many years, and am still at it. My advice to anyone who wants to have a go is to join your local motor club. They are all listed on teh MSA website http://www.msauk.org/site/custom/home/default.asp?chapter=22 Pick peoples brains and listen to the...

    100/55w bulbs

I havn't fitted them to a micra, but have used them in other cars and they have been impressive. Make sure it is seated properly so it is alighned correctly. BUT - Micras seem to have a habit of melting the plug which goes onto the bulb. I would think 100W bulb may hasten this

    shocks

I have never heard of anyone shortening shock absorbers and I am not sure how you would go about it. The shocks are threaded at the top where they go through the mounting (or the bottom if you have bilstein struts). To shorten them you would have to make the thread longer and I doubt if the...

    Cold Air Intake

Going back a bit in this thread - I do not like the idea of theinlet being so low. Many many moons ago GM entered a brace of Astras in the RAC Rally (aka Network Q & Rally of Wales GB). Those cars all had intakes around bumper level. When they went through the ford on teh first day all the...
