Im getting a bit confused now. Can we start again? What rev counter is it you are using? And what is actually happening is it not reading at all or is it reading erratically? Or is it over reading by a set amount?

As in that photograph is not a good representation of what a K11 engine would look like with a clear cover over the cam chain. Just politely pointing it out for those who might not notice.

They are both cars runnng cam BELTS, which run dry on the outside of the engine.

Arnold, did your car originally have points ignition? And you have since changed it to electronic? If so, did you remove the ballast resistor when you made the change?

If you could post a circuit diagram of the way you have the ignition, the electronic module and the rev counter wired up that may help. But what I suspect the problem is, is that the rev counter you have is not designed to work with an electronic ignition system (is it quite old?). If it is...

What tacho do you have and where is it connected to the car? To the coil or to the points?

Sounds like damp HT leads. Causing misfiring. Does WD40 over the leads help? Does it go away once the car is properly warm after 20 minutes or so? What type of HT leads did you fit, out of interest? My car is always like this when it is damp. I dont do short journeys so it doesnt bother me...

Trackstore (if you've heard of them) used to do lowering springs and dampers for K10's. They are not on their website anymore, but probably worth calling them to ask..

Another thing worth a look is to check all the small bore vacuum hoses and the connecting rubber pieces that go from carburetor, inlet manifold and distributor. The rubber parts perish, crack and leak air into the inlet manifold. They can be replaced with small motorbike fuel hose.
