Failed MOT test! it needs a lot of work and I need a lot of help!

Adjusting the rear brakes has no effect on the front brakes as they are different systems at opposite ends of the car! Adjusting the rear brakes can give you less brake pedal travel.

Failed MOT test! it needs a lot of work and I need a lot of help!

From the things listed that it failed on... It doesnt need a back box (otherwise it would fail on 'Escape of exhaust gasses caused by corrosion, rear section) It doesnt need a cat (Not until you have tried a new set of spark plugs/air filter/good thrash) It doesnt need brake shoes (otherwise it...

windscreen replacement quote fitted at home

I had a go myself! Bought the tools (£20 Mac tools). Cut the damaged windscreen out our Micra, took about an hour but worked. Tried cutting the screen out a scrap Micra, broke it. Tried cutting the screen out another scrap Micra, broke it too. Tried again, got it. Took it back to the workshop...

    Tail light fuse keeps blowing

I said red/blue wire, think 2000 on Micras have a black yellow wire instead. When your lights are off it shows as an earth but when you put the sidelights on it goes live. When you fix it put a 10a fuse back in.

    Worn keys!

Big key cutting chains will only cut you a new chipped key (Timsons charge £80 :wow:) With our customers, we remove the chip and attach it to the back of the transponder ring and have a key cut at the local small key cutter guy for £5. We always offer them the choice but so far no-ones gone to...

    Tail light fuse keeps blowing

THATS IT! You will have used a red/blue wire as the earth. Its the live to the rear lights/dash lights. Your stereo should earth thru the aerial/stereo body. Cut the wire and tape it up. If your stereo doesnt work when refitted use the original mounting brackets screwed in or run an earth to the...

    She won't start....

Loads of cranking and smoke then starting sounds like it was flooded. Car is more likely to flood if spark plugs are fouled (Not changed for a while, only used for short journeys or not revved often enough) Does the car turn over ok everytime? On Micras when you turn the key the fuel pump relay...

    Mot question

They usually go first where they are clipped onto the car. The pipe only needs to be corroded across a very small section to actually fail.

    should i buy it?

I had a batmobile. Rubbish! If you have to pick up a bumper at the scrapyard you have to tie it to the roof. Because of the jet turbine you have to turn it off and roll it into the pertol station or you will blow the place up (theres only one petrol station in Hamilton and its Shell, which is...

Made a start on the Azures full restoration today. Crusty old crossmember was asked to leave... And a new one was invited to join the project... Serviced the engine, freed off the brakes, changed the pads and discs, cv boots and joints but forgot to take pics! Will...

    New arrival, the Azure GX

Aparently, Nissan claim its colour is 'Azure' but my eyes tell me its kinda turquoise! LOL! Anyway, after the disappointment of the SLX and its surprising condition I've bought this 5 door S reg GX which needs loads of work! Here it is... Looks ok, doesnt it? Well it isnt! :( Started...

    rubbing noise

Wheel bearings. Straight forward enough to change. Access to a hydraulic press speeds things up though. Easy way to sort them is to fit 2nd hand ones, assuming the car in the scrapyard didn't have any wheel bearing issues. There is supposed to be a bit of play in the inner CV joints. I am...

    FINISHED! SLX Part5

Its finished! Wish all our Micras could be done in that time! I promise to buy a rougher one next time! Anyway, here it is, after 14 hours of valeting... We intended using this one as a demonstrator but lets be honest, its too good for running round to McDs or...

    Centre Brake Light

You must have a foglight on the drivers side. You could use your high level stoplight as a foglight as long as you left the existing one where it was. A high level stoplight would be pretty pointless though, foglights are usually low down so you can see them in fog!
