for small city cars.... like micra, pug 206 etc. is recomended to direct the woofer backwards to the rear doors, or upwards like repetsir said.... important is that the woofer and the port (if is bass reflex or a bandpass box) have a minimum of 10cm space from rear doors or from the shelf...

i have used long screws, so mine distance is fixed on to door plate, and speaker is on the mdf with small screws...so i can change the speakers without removing the distance and have no problems and no need for "rescrewing" :) BTW hole in the doors is wide enough to put almost every 16cm...

if you add a 19mm MDF distance you can install 16cm speaker...it would be louder... :)

i have made a speaker distance form 19mm MDF, and locate it on the door panel, after i drillled the hole fore speaker magnet in the door plate...speakers are 6,5"...16cm, component sistem and tweeters are on dashboard at the corners...because of location of the speakers (high position) the sound...
