Ooooooohh finally another person from St. A :o We're gonna have to arrange a meet sometime! I'm reasonably hands-on with my car but will not so politely refuse any requests for engine swaps lol. Basic servicing shouldn't be a problem and I wont charge the earth for the job :P

It does happen. I had someone use a bunch of pics of my bike to advertise his. Posted the link to a bike forum and a few of the members gave him abuse for it which caused him to remove the auction and start a new one with abuse directly aimed at me :laugh:

It would seem there isn't any decent brows made. I've had to stick black tape on my lights to achieve the look I want :(

We've drilled mine and it seems ok. As long as the air is still filtered it should be fine. Have you considered an afternarket cone filter that you can bolt straight onto the throttle body? That'll give you better response with a decent exhaust system.

Not keen on the Ace 216. Out of those the 205 looks nicest I think. For the car the wheels are to go onto I'd choose a fairly subtle spoke design so as not to make it look silly. I've got these on my car which suit it quite nicely as they are not OTT but still eyecatching...

If it's using a lot of fuel and isn't running smoothly I'd personally be tempted to check there's nothing wrong with the throttle body. When my throttle body went the car ran like a tractor and drank like a uni student.

Top up the oil and make sure you keep on top of it. Mine made some knocking/tapping sounds for a number of months and just a few days ago blew the side of the engine out. Mind you, it had previously suffered a hydraulic lock which definitely did some internal damage which has been waiting to...

Right, got an engine to try. My more experienced helper asked me a valid question earlier. Which way does the engine come out? Top or bottom? If it can come out both ways, which way do you most recommend?

What colour is the car they're going onto?

Out of the above, the GTS or the FD would be my choice. FD is more costly to maintain though. If you find anything you like the look of around this way I can go check them out with you if you want.

Sounds about right lol :P Looking at second hand engines at the mo so should hopefully be back up and running again soon. What's a rough timescale on swapping an engine in one of these?

Just checked, clutch seems to work ok. Not any unusual clunks or anything in the pedal travel and it engages/disengages fine.

I haven't tried it. Give me a few mins, I'll stick it in gear and see if the clutch still engages and disengages properly.
