D'oh - clunking sound rear left

Lol! I did consider maybe he wanted to get out of my chassis after being there a couple weeks.

D'oh - clunking sound rear left

I pulled out of the drive today, to the sound of a clunk from the rear left. It kinda almost sounded like a binding brake releasing. Or the time I ran over a rabbit and it jumped up under my car :( Any pointers what it could be? Suspension wise I'm having my MOT tomorrow, so I would hope...

    Cold Weather Tyres

I had a lot of trouble getting winter tyres, no-one had 175/60R15s in stock in any of their national warehouses. Had to get 175/65R15s in the end - not a huge difference, will look better once I have the lower springs on later this week, and also it's reduced the under-reading of the speedo :)

    Cold Weather Tyres

Thanks for the input - I just had them put on, took 20 mins as they had 3 guys and 2 balancing machines going free at the time! Possibly the best £300 I've spent in some time. They are noisy though, kinda like running mountain bike tyres on the road. Definite improvement in grip too, although...

    Cold Weather Tyres

I'm getting a set of Continental Cold Weather Tyres today, 175/65R15s. The plan is to use them on my stock steelies, then in Spring I'll get new alloys with some nice Summer tyres, then I can just change wheels every year instead of paying to change tyres. I just wondered what other people's...

    MY K12 strikes again!

I love my K12 so there. (Its MOT is being done this week so I might change my mind).

    driving styles

lol yeah change around 2-3k for economy, the CR14 limits at about 6,500, so obviously aim thereabouts for more performance.

    starting problems

First thing to check is the new battery - does it still have a good charge after a night sitting out? I once installed a sub that wouldn't switch off, so the battery would be flat every morning, causing difficulty starting and lots of smoke.

    so happy right now :)

RX-8 - the one that got away. There was a beautiful metallic red one at a local garage, about £5k... I ALMOST bought it. Ended up with the Micra instead so... I've basically done the opposite to your plans!

    Keyless Entry Buttons

I'll write up a tutorial over the weekend when I have some photos - it was too dark when I replaced the driver's side button today. For future reference anyone who has a faulty passenger side keyless entry button, but the key lock cylinder still works fine, DO NOT BUY A PASSENGER SIDE BUTTON...

    I could kill Nissan

Yeah I imagine they left a wire loose after refitting everything or something... be sure to give them the upset mother with child in back of car bit - should give you a little leverage, if you don't overplay it ;)

    Keyless Entry Buttons

    It's ok - the lock works ;)

    Keyless Entry Buttons

Just the button, but they don't sell the passenger side button alone. Actually I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to see if the lock works - it was loose (as in hanging off) when I got it... I just tightened it and thought nothing more.

    Keyless Entry Buttons

According to Nissan Parts (Glyn Hopkin of Watford) they are just plug and play, and what you get is the internals of the button - you just put the button in behind the existing handle/cover. £21 plus VAT for the driver's side, £70ish plus VAT plus another £35 to make the lock fit your key for...

    Keyless Entry Buttons

I'm about to order these for both doors (the boot is the only one that works). Anyone have any experience changing the buttons? I've found the screw inside the door that holds them in place, but just wondering if they are simple plug and play, or need programming? Nissan already want £35...

    hello from hertfordshire

Never found that, but I tend to go in knowing what I want, pick it up, pay, and leave. No need to talk to them;) I wonder if anyone knows anywhere else that sells the same stuff as r tec but closer to Hemel or Watford?

    hello from hertfordshire

Welcome! I was in Hatfield today as it happens - Made the pilgrimage from Hemel to Hatfield to visit R-Tec... only to find they were closed :P

k12 54 reg stereo turns itself on

Is it a stock radio? If so it should be wired to only come on if the ignition is on - in which case, no risk of it coming on at night. Unless the car's being driving at night of course.... As to what's causing it, I would go with a faulty switch - perhaps the button is so worn that every now...
