    "Maxi Micra" project....by EBBdude.

So is torque, when measured at the wheels, subject to transmission loss same as bhp? If so, our 85tf/lb (115N/m) looks pretty good, no?

    "Maxi Micra" project....by EBBdude.

Hi again Frank, long time no speak, you good? We did consider more compression, but in the end it is a budget rally car (if there is such a thing) and forged piston weren't justifiable (didn't think about filling the standard pistons or head bowls!). We always do pretty well, Abi (with...

    "Maxi Micra" project....by EBBdude.

Hi EBB Sorry, took a while to figure out how to post a picture again! On the video the car had the 'old' cg13 engine, which had standard internals and was 1275cc, the graph from that is below. The 'new' engine is a cga3 which is 1348cc and also standard (pistons/valves/crank/etc)...

    "Maxi Micra" project....by EBBdude.

Hi EBB Just been pointed towards your blog and must add my praise to all your hard work and success so far. Quick question for you, will the 'edges' on the cam buckets (the hole in middle and the remains of the shim retaining lip) have any negative effects on the camshaft lobes? Are you going...

    which sealant?

Best stay away from silicone sealers because some erode copper and will trash the pcb.

    Front Crossmember and M.O.T

Here's an idea, how about buying yourself a mig welder with some of the money you would give to a garage to get the x-member welded. It sounds as though you are mechanically minded if you are considering removing the old rusty part yourself, welding isn't that difficult on clean metal.

    mpg what is average

Funnily enough the 1348 seems to be a bit more ecconomical than the 1275, we get about 8 to 9mpg. An average tar single venue is 60 ish miles, and for that we'll take 3 20 litre Jerry cans. I reckon we do about 60 miles out of £40 of Momentum.

    strut braces

Depends how grippy your tyres are! If you've got some no name cheapo far eastern rubbish tyres there isn't a lot of point in stiffening the chassis, cause the tyres grip will let go before the chassis starts flexing. Front and rear upper braces are fitted as standard to the Almera GTi, I doubt...

    Blog: Micra Rally Car build

I'll be interested to see if you can get a fully spherical jointed rear end to work. Because of the way the multi-link rear is set up it relies on flex in the rubber bushes. If you replace the bushes with spherical rod ends you only end up with about 4" of suspension travel before it all binds...

    PAS Not working

They do take a long time to bleed all the air locks out, the stupid loop that goes up to the pressure switch don't help. Another thing is the pressure relief cartridge that fits in the output port of the pump can drop out and be easily forgotten if you're not aware of it. Also, if you do a...

    Why are Micras so small?

I like the idea of the Box, Cube or saloon.................but all the extra room is at the wrong end.

    Why are Micras so small?

Spent a few hours pondering how to fit an electric steering pump to the redrallymicra, there just isn't enough room. Gonna have to stick with the mech power steering. Could do with a Micra Clubman! Does anyone here remember the Mini Clubman, it was the old classic Mini but with a different...

    Rear wiper motor

Having read that again it is a rubbish answer!!:p I reckon you should be able to get the pre face lift wiper motor/arm to sit horizontally at the bottom of the window. Firstly remove the wiper motor from the car, then remove the gear housing cover, then it is a matter of repositioning the...

    Rear wiper motor

Sorry, can't answer your question, but I did what you want to do on my Almera by taking the wiper motor gear housing apart and moving the pivot pin 180 degrees (ie to the opposite of the gear wheel).
