Incidentaly you would prime the oil pump with clean oil when rebuilding so that it would work at all. and i would at least put some oil in the filter on a car where this was practical ie where the opening in the filter was uppermost when installed. Malcolm

Hi again, By "ingested Swarf" I mean that the small pieces of the old tensioner that will have been pumped through the oil pump and throughout the engine whilst it was failing. If this has happened it would explain No oil as it would have passed through the pump on it's journey, the damage is...
